Aboard the SSV Constantinople, 1/30/2227: Research Labs
- Audio Aid:
"Let's see here... Inusannon cells reaction... test..." mumbled under the breath of Doctor Khada as she gazed at the sample tester again. She kept on testing this piece of matter no matter what she could do. Whilst the Salarian worked on the Architect and other technical projects - Khada kept with her Inusannon studies. Muttering under her breath as she continued to work. Before something interrupted her studies, a video call. Khada just stopped her work for a moment to respond to it, leaving the sample in the tester for now. It wasn't going to be long enough she imposed to herself as she started to leave the lab respond to the video call. The video image static as it transverses through security protocols as she stood outside of the lab.
"This is Doctor Oboro-"
"Mom!" came the quickest response out of an eager child - followed by a very tired "Hey." from another researcher as Oboro smiled gently. "Ryoma, Jhin... what took you so long?" asked the Doctor as she smiled. Watching the video screen project them as she clasped her hands - watching towards them with a smile. Her hand tugged on her collar gently as Ryoma responded. "Dad said we shouldn't bother you at the beginning of your work, as that's- "Ok enough of that son." was the quickest response Jhin had in a while, as he smiled "It's been a while - love. How's the research projects going? He asked, as Oboro smiled, shaking her head "They're... going well enough. I should be done with my most recent one here soon." As she smiled, looking around the almost empty ship. She swore she could hear a Quarian and Raloian talk above her - or the Scotsman in the CIC complaining about another issue. The Salarian walking past her as she continued to keep talking with her son, smiling as she heard him ask his favorite question.
"What's it about mom?" came from the eager Ryoma as she shook her head "I'm afraid I can't tell you guys that until it's declassified entirely." She said - despite smiling at Ryomas happiness about asking the question. As Ryoma nodded and asked "When are you coming home?" she heard, as she thought about it for a moment. Her eyes closing shut for a moment as she sighed, smiling as she looked back at him "Ryoma - love... I'll be home as soon as I can. Once I'm done with this... information; I'll be preparing for my leave." She stated as she stood up and smiled - looking genuinely enthused as she looked at Ryoma and Jhin "Promise to me that the both of you aren't going to go crazy." She said in a sing-song voice to them, acting almost like her own mother would about the fox being shot with a pistol - or the sparrow being cut off from his tongue, the classic tales of Japan that would be whispered to her at night. As Ryoma nodded - giving a grin as she ended the video call, sighing as she looked around the ship. Taking a moment to take a deep breath as she looked around.
The ship was her livelihood for many months now - and years before, was her only home. The 2nd MSRC was one of the few groups that gave her some sort of livelihood back then. From Flynt Thatcher; the warrior who would act like a complete idiot. Thinking back on it forty years from then, it was the only thing one could do after all. To Morello - a depressed teenager who was caught up in the mess of the reaper war, a tragedy so to speak. There were even incidents such as Banner and Greene's relationship - and how Banner was stolen from the crew only to be brought back. The tales of Uriel and its worth to her as a person, Samuel Chevalier genuinely caring about others. Arglack and his brute strength, and kinder heart. Oboro gave a smile to herself as she thought about it. Taking a moment to sit down and smile; looking back up. The newer crew was taking its own shape. Arglack was the old guard, and cared about the new crew. Tacia was very much like her mother in certain aspects - and proved herself over time. Banner was... Banner, there was no way around it. Emma Thatcher, whilst not being as dim as her father, was still just as much a Thatcher.
The smiling came to a stop when she heard the hangers open up as she looked to the side. She had work to do - not something to reminisce about. She already knew what her home was; the 2nd MSRC and her family back on Earth. As she turned back with almost robotic fashion back towards the research lab and went back to her sample tester. Looking over the results as she turned around and continued to work. "Once the inusannon were done, I should go to my other home..." she thought to herself; that was when she figured it was time for a complete retirement.
