Maldrassian Royal Army

The Maldrassian Royal Army consists largely of traditional spearmen, sword-and-shield warriors, and battlemages. It is by far the largest of Maldrassa's three military branches, and composes a majority of its standing forces. They work closely with the Ranger Corps, and are largely indistinguishable from each other to outsiders. The highly disciplined soldiers of Maldrassa are known for their marching formations, silent save for the clanking of metal and armor. Standard battle plans have the spearmen in front, charging to impale the enemy and halt cavalry, while the rest charge in behind to engage the enemy.

The Royal Battlemages commonly use telekinesis to lift and fling dangerous objects, or using flash-frozen icicles to impale soft spots in enemy armor. Maldrassan battlemages are often difficult to spot amidst their formations, as they wear the same armor as the soldiers around them, and still carry swords.
